My name is Matthew Jonathan. I’m going to share my campus visit experience in Melbourne, Australia on 16-21 March 2019. On the 16th, we took off from Soekarno – Hatta international Airport and arrived at International Melbourne Airport the next morning. As we arrived, we headed to the mini market right away to buy some snacks and some other necessities. Then, we directly headed to the hotel to have some rests. On the second day, we went to Monash University to see a few demo prepared and presented by the Engineering students of Monash University. From the demo we learned plenty of new things including college’s life and playing robots using ‘Coding’, by creating our own commands. The next day we visited Victoria University. We followed several classes that took place and experienced new things such as learning some basics of Mechanical Engineering, Technical Engineering and Chemical Engineering. In these classes, the lecturers covered several interesting subjects, like how to build racing car engines, how to build a solid, strong and steady building, etc. Our last campus visit was Melbourne University, who achieved the title as the Best University in Australia. Aside from the academic outstanding qualities, we were also fascinated by the traditional European classical building structure of Melbourne University. This University also boasts many libraries including this one particular library which was specially designed and catered for students to wind down, enjoy good rests and relax with no pressure of studying. In my opinion, some of these unique and uncommon things made this University exclusively interesting.
For my fellow juniors whose interests or are considering to further their studies in Australian universities, this kind of field trip may become a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience first hand some of these universities’ facilities, its distinct building aesthetics, and a glimpse of university students’ life in Australia. At last, you will get an unforgettable valuable experience.
