When students reach their second or third year in secondary school, they are given subject options for the following year. These options are given with the intention of allowing students to chase after their ambitions or dreams as well as giving them more leeway in their education, although some subjects are mandatory.
However, sometimes the number of choices schools’ give is either too excessive or too lacking. If it is too excessive, some students may find it overwhelming. On the contrary, if it is too lacking, some students might find it restricting.
Overall, both situations have their own ups and downs. But having said that, I personally prefer having just several options more than “lacking”. This is due to the fact that I believe myself to be included in the “overwhelmed” faction if given too many options to decide on.
