Hello, I’m Patricia Barbara Vianney from Class XI Science. Here I will explain one of the many photography techniques, namely the panning technique. Panning is a photography technique used to freeze the motion of a moving object.
To implement this technique, the first step you should take is to find the right location. I recommend choosing a location where there is a lot of movement, such as a busy street.
Since I only use my phone, I had to install the DSLR application first. Then, from the application or your camera, you need to change the ISO setting. The ISO setting can be adjusted according to the brightness of the surroundings at the shooting location. When I took the photo in the afternoon, I set the ISO to 400.
You also need to adjust the shutter speed setting. Shutter speed can be adjusted to match the speed of the vehicle being photographed. If the vehicle is moving faster, we can set a faster shutter speed, and vice versa for a slower-moving vehicle. For instance, when I shot a picture of a moving motorcycle, I adjusted the shutter speed to 1/30 s. If you want the object to be a person running, you can change the shutter speed setting to around 1/20 s.
Also, don’t forget to lock the focus on the object you want to shoot. When it is time to take the photo, hold the camera while following the movement of the object. I repeated these steps several times until I got the result I wanted.
Although it sounds difficult, this technique is actually quite easy. Go ahead and try it! Good luck!
