Lunar New Year, or also known as Chinese New Year, is one of the most important festivals celebrated in Asia. For this big celebration, the student council’s PRO Department arranged an awesome event for this. The PRO Department came up with several original and different ideas from the previous event, which gives the games a wide variety. From a Quizziz quiz about Chinese culture which challenged the players’ knowledge, “Craft It Out” which challenged the players’ hand-eyes coordination and a scavenger hunt which made the players run around the house and move.
I’m really glad that the PRO Department brought scavenger hunt back, this is one of my and most of the students’ favorite games. Not to mention that it enables teachers to participate in this too, making it more inclusive, which I find very thoughtful. Arranging online events is pretty tricky, especially to get more people to engage in the event. I feel like it’d be better if more students take part in non-academic activities like the CNY celebration. Besides, the events are designed as an escape for students to finally have fun in the middle of their hectic school lives. Also, I’d like to point out how a simple participation in the event would make the organizer(s) feel very much appreciated.
I feel like such events strengthen the bonds between both students and teachers. I really love how the participants would comment in the chat-box, even the teachers too. I find those little interactions very heartwarming. It feels very different from interactions in the classroom, it isn’t as intense or serious as classroom interactions, it feels as if we’re all friends, sharing humorous comments, making each other giggle.
I’m really looking forward to future events and I’m very excited to see what more fresh ideas our council can come up with, which we’ll be very proud to present. So be prepared for new ideas and new surprises in this New Year.
