It’s the talk of the school that many parents are giving their child money for good grades. Should that be allowed? As the pandemic goes on, students tend to be discouraged to study so their parents have given them extra allowance to study harder. However, I believe that this isn’t the right way to educate children.
It can be argued that students who are paid to study won’t be prepared for college as there would be no one to give them “encouragement” to study. This can impact them severely as they would have no motivation to study and would probably drop out. As a result, they would get less education so they wouldn’t get decent paying jobs.
Although it could work for some people, they would get encouraged to study and work a lot harder which would result in good grades. The parents would give them less money overtime and, in the end, not pay them. In some cases, the children would be so used to studying hard that they would still keep thriving even though they aren’t paid. But in most cases, the child would study less overtime and end up in square one.
Thus, I’m in the opinion that parents shouldn’t be paying their children for good grades. However, parents can and should reward their kid from time to time for their hard work and diligence.
