Hello everyone, my name is Priscilla Julietta. I’m from grade 8A SMP and today I’m going to tell you about my amazing trekking journey to Curug Kembar Lembah Purba at Sukabumi. My family and I went for a short trip on December 30th. It took us 3.5 hours to drive from Tangerang to Sukabumi. We went to a tourist spot called ‘Situ Gunung’ because we wanted to see a twin waterfall called ‘Curug Kembar Lembah Purba’.
This trekking journey took us a total of 5 hours and was a distance of 8 km for a round trip. We had to walk into the forest, and cross a total of 9 bridges which were quite challenging because each one is a kind of suspension bridge that is built above the forest or river and each one moved when we walked across it. We had a tour guide with us and we had to wear protective equipment for our safety when we had to cross a more challenging bridge and also when we walked to the edge of the cliff. This is how the 1st suspension bridge looks – it’s a very long bridge and the scenery was very beautiful when we were on the bridge.
From all the bridges that we had to cross over, there was one extreme bridge that had only one narrow board and a rope to hold as we walked individually with no foundation pile support like the other suspension bridges that we had gone through. I was so afraid to cross it but my father encouraged and supported me by following behind me and trying to hold the rope tightly to make it steady while we were walking slowly. Yet the bridge was still so shaky all the time. This is the photo of my father and me that my mother took before her turn to walk across the bridge.
Finally, after we had crossed the 7th bridge, we saw up close in front of us the very beautiful twin waterfall called “Curug Kembar”. The photo below can tell you how amazing the waterfall is. We got soaked from head to toe when we approached the waterfall and we were so exhausted and had stiff legs, but we were so excited and felt very content!
