In this review, I will be discussing the biography film of one of the greatest and most famous British bands called Queen. In the past years, the British band Queen has dominated the rock n’ roll genre of all the nations. It is no more a surprise that a full-length film would be produced in honor of their journeys.
This full-length film is titled Bohemian Rhapsody. Released in 2018, this musical-drama film has been embraced as one of the most sensational films ever.
The movie Bohemian Rhapsody centers around the life story of the rock band Queen’s lead singer Freddie Mercury. With his impeccable vocal abilities, Freddie Mercury and his rock band, Queen, achieve superstardom. However, amidst his skyrocketing success, he grapples with his ego, sexuality, and a fatal illness.
But with his undying love for his band, Queen, and the goal of spreading the message for all the outcasts, the unique, and the ones that do not fit in, Freddie Mercury finally acknowledges and reminds himself of who and what is most valuable.
Bohemian Rhapsody alternates between an exceedingly bland dramatic shorthand about Queen and Mercury’s life, and several long concert scenes that cannot help but enthuse the viewer. The film squandered its opportunity to tell a story worthy of Freddie Mercury. He was magnificent and larger-than-life, and all we got is a plateful of mediocre and average.
Queen and Freddie Mercury himself have certainly contributed to the world through their unique, and one-of-a-kind music. If you are a Queen fan, I think there’s a lot to enjoy in this movie because the performance scenes are absolutely fantastic.
