Have you ever thought of the amount of homework you get? A good number of people would rant about how much homework they get, while others would be happy with their amount of work.
Everyone has their own thoughts on how much homework a student should be receiving, but, research shows that middle school students should spend an average of 45-75 minutes on homework every night. I’ve asked some of my classmates in SHB Cambridge about their take on this, and most revealed that they thought the homework we get is just right. The workload wasn’t too heavy so that we’d stay up, but also wasn’t light since it kept us busy.
Some people say, the more homework, the better. They believe that students would get smarter if there was more work. Despite this being true, there’s still a limit to how much homework a student can handle. For example, if the student has a short attention span and a hard time concentrating, they might have trouble doing long, complex assignments. In contrast, if the student has a longer attention span with superb concentration, they would be okay with more assignments compared to other students.
Similarly, we have to take into account the daily activities a student has. For instance, some students would spend hours working out, while others would have free time since they don’t work out as much. To sum it up, It’s quite hard to determine the right amount of homework, seeing that every student will take up different amounts of time doing their homework.
