From Monday, 18 July 2022 to Wednesday, 20 July 2022, the new students of Harapan Bangsa school joined the orientation program organized by the student council. The orientation on the first day started off with an assembly for all students from grades 7 to grade 12. The new students then got their first chance to meet the teachers and other students. After that, they learned their way around school. They went on a school tour and saw the school facilities. After a few ice-breaking games, the new students then listened to talks about nationalism and behaviour by the principals, and that was a wrap for day one.
On the second day, the students did a variety of group activities. They were asked by the committee to create a poster about a national hero and present it. They also played a lot of group games that required a great deal of creativity, team work and perseverance. At the end of the second day, they found out about the school curriculum and rules and regulations.
On the third day, they sat for English and Mandarin placement tests. The test results help decide which level they will study at in English and Mandarin classes. Then, they learned basic drill commands for assemblies and flag ceremonies. The student council ended the orientation with talent shows performed by the new students.
