BIAS (Measles-Rubella) Activities

Sekolah  Harapan Bangsa Primary  School Modernland Tangerang, recently held a Measles-Rubella Immunization Vaccine activity.

Long before holding the Measles-Rubella Immunization, Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Primary School sent an invitation for the BIAS activity notification and a Google form to be filled out by the parents of each student through their respective homeroom teachers. This vaccine was only for grade 1 students.

This BIAS activity was carried out on August 16, 2022 and attended by several grade 1 students who had received approval from their parents and collaborated with officers from the Cikokol Health Center. Before starting the Measles-Rubella immunization, the Cikokol Community Health Center staff conducted socialization/counseling to grade 1 students.

After providing information on how to brush their teeth properly, students were called one by one to the clinic room for the Measles-Rubella immunization.

Students were not only immunized, but they were also tested for color blindness, nails (not long/dirty), ears (always clean), and teeth (loose teeth/cavities) and the new students were immunized. As students were injected, they were accompanied by Ms Emy as the principal with  the aim of calming the children  while being injected with the Measles-Rubella immunization by the Cikokol Health Center doctor.

Usually when being injected, students feel like they are being bitten by ants or being pinched.However, our students calmly said they didn’t feel anything. None of the students cried or rebelled. In fact, they  were very brave when they were injected. The officers of the Cikokol Health Center were also very helpful in motivating students not to be afraid and to benefit from this immunization.

During the Measles-Rubella immunization, the officer informed us if there were students who had a fever. In that case they could compress with warm water, drink lots of water, and if the fever is high, give Sanmol according to the age and weight of the student.

This activity has become one of the routine activities every year in August. The purpose of carrying out Measles-Rubella immunization in children is to strengthen the child's immune system in order to reduce morbidity in children, especially in Measles-Rubella.
