Over the past two months, hundreds of thousands of students had been rooting for the same thing. On Thursday, August 11, 2022, the day had finally come: Cambridge officially published our GCE A-level results.
Ever since the last day of the exam, I had been filled with anxiety, wondering if I had done enough. I even dreamt about getting the results at least five times. Now you can tell how much of a big deal my A-level result is to me. It is more than a grade; it is a key to my enrollment in university.
When the day arrived, I could not stop being so nervous. At 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon, the grades were finally released. I saw a Whatsapp notification from Ms Silvana sending me the soft copy of the file. My hands were shaking, my face was sweating, and my heart was pounding fast. Luckily, I was not alone at that time. My friends, Fanya and Adjeng, were beside me. Without further ado, I opened the file and saw two A*s and an A. I was very much relieved. My grades were above the requirements of my university. Now, I am officially a Cardiff University, Wales’ student.
I can never be thankful enough for receiving such grades. All those years of hard work – the 3 am study sessions, the caffeine boosts in the morning, and the breakdowns I had while studying – have finally paid off. My advice to upcoming A-level exam takers: do not underestimate yourself; you never know you can do something until you do it.
