Procrastinating is a habit of delaying an important task, usually by focusing on less urgent, more enjoyable, and easier activities instead. And it is different from laziness.
Procrastination involves delaying unnecessarily, whereas laziness involves being voluntarily unwilling to exert necessary effort.
Procrastination can be caused by depression. Feelings of hopelessness, helplessness and lack of energy can make a person difficult to start and finish a task. And procrastination can also be caused by OCD and ADHD.
Medical research has also shown that procrastination can lead to higher levels of stress, anxiety, fatigue, and depression. People who procrastinate tend to have high level of anxiety as well as poor impulse control.
To overcome procrastination there are many ways that can be done, create priority list, eliminate distraction, avoid perfectionism, don’t multitask, and you could even give a reward to yourself. Lastly, procrastination can lead to negative consequences that concern career, studies, health and, personal qualities.
