Chinese New Year Celebration

Harapan Bangsa School holds Chinese New Year celebrations in the auditorium every year, but this year's activities were different from previous years. Because the post-epidemic conditions have not fully abated, the Chinese New Year Celebrationactivities were held on the basketball court this year. The theme of the 2023 Chinese New Year celebration was “Tigers go and stay blessed ; rabbits come to bring spring”.Ms. Indra T. Honoris, deputy chairman, in her speech expressed her hope that the students could work harder and make progress in the new year.Even though the Chinese New Year celebration was not held in an auditorium but on a basketball court, the students were all excited. The teachers assigned each class the task of using three-ply board material to make posters related to the Chinese New Year theme. In the end, seven judges ajudicated and found the champion, runner-up and third-placed winners from each part of the junior high school. The headmaster and Mandarin teacher constantly encouraged students to improve their posters. On the activity day, the posters made by each class had their respective advantages.Apart from the poster competition, everyone also enjoyed colorful performances including the sign language song “Listen Thank You”, the erhu game “Jasmine Flower”, the reading of the student rules, martial arts, fan dancing, the tongue twister song “China” and the dragon and lion dance. Everyone was delighted to celebrate Chinese New Year together.
