Sports day is a day where we all come together as a family and challenge ourselves to be the very best. Not to mention, it also encourages teamwork as we are split into houses and it takes a great deal of effort to outshine the other houses!
To start the day off, we did simple morning stretches to prepare us for a day’s worth of activities. The first game held was dodgeball and to say the very least, it was my favorite game of the day. I took part in all the rounds and I could see all my teammates work together, of course, everything paid off as we won first place!
As the day went by, many games were played such as tug of war but another memorable game for me was the relay race. The rules were pretty simple, 4 members played for each house and were positioned on each corner of the field. Thankfully, 2 other houses were competing with each other before it was my turn so I had the chance to think of a tactic. Though, I did not spend my time well and got too invested in the players looking like they’re running for their lives. They would survive a zombie apocalypse if you ask me. Finally, it was my turn and I was stationed at the last corner which made me really anxious as everyone was counting on me. Unfortunately, the competing house had a better start so I was under immense pressure to catch on to them. The competing player got to run a few seconds before me so when I received the metal rod I ran as fast as I could, not realizing that I was going full speed towards a crowd of people and had no time to stop. Inevitably, I had to crash down to the ground rather than knocking down people like bowling pins. Fortunately, no one got hurt and I only got a few bruises here and there.
At last, the final game was held and it was announced as a water game where the hidden objective was just to get really wet and have fun. In my opinion, whatever end game doesn’t really matter in a water-related game as after playing in the hot sunny weather all day, the best thing to end it with is to get soaked and soak your friends with buckets of water.
In conclusion, sports day was a successful event as both teachers and students had a great time together.
