Alice in Borderland

Alice in Borderland is a Japanese thriller series based on the Japanese manga of the same name. It was first aired on Netflix in December 2020. The series is about a bunch of people who find themselves trapped in an abandoned Tokyo (Borderland) and forced to play dangerous games to extend their visa. Their visa is extended based on the difficulty they're playing on, which is represented by playing cards. If the player's visa expires, the player gets killed by a laser from the sky. In order to escape the borderland, the majority of people have to complete all the games. The story revolves around Ryōhei Arisu, the main character. He is an unemployed teenager and a video game addict, who manages to survive and complete most of the games with Usagi and his team.

Season 2 was aired on Netflix in December 2022. Arisu, Usagi, and his team manage to complete the last game and escape the borderland. It is revealed that they got transported to the borderland because of a meteorite disaster, and the time span of two seasons is just a minute in the real world. Those who died in the borderland as well died in the meteorite disaster, and those who survived also survived the disaster, but don't have any memory of the borderland.

Arisu, and his surviving team remain strangers. But he accidentally met Usagi again. The season 2 finale ends with a scene where they show a Joker card on a table with playing cards.

The shoe isn't renewed for season 3 by Netflix yet, but it is clear that it has the potential for another season or a spin-off since season 2 ended with a cliffhanger.

In season 3, the story will probably revolve around another character since Arisu's story ended based on the manga. There are many theories around the internet that say that the joker card is a sign that the game isn't over and somehow the players are still connected to the borderland.
