Harapan Bangsa Modernhill High School is carrying out Youth Camp activities on March 6 – 8 2023, which aims to train students’ physical and mental resilience, be more confident, socialize with others and be able to adapt to nature. This event started on Monday, 6 March 2023 at 07.00 WIB, starting with an opening ceremony by the Principal, Ms. Melany Kusumawati Gigir, S.Pd., M.S. Then, at 08.00 WIB, we made our way to the camping site on Bukit Dewi Manggung, Subang, West Java.
At 14.00. WIB all Youth Camp participants arrived at their destination and were greeted by a traditional West Javanese Jaipong dance as a welcome greeting, gathered at the Adi Saputra Bukit Dewi Manggung Hall to carry out the opening ceremony, lunch, registration, distribution of tents for each participant and rest. In the afternoon, the participants learned traditional arts typical of West Java, namely jaipong dance and angklung music with teachers from Bukit Dewi Manggung which took place in the Hall and continued again in the evening. First night Ms. Melany gave participants a reflection on the activities that had been carried out all day and also provided motivation for the next day’s activities and rest.
On Tuesday morning, March 7 2023, participants held prayers for Muslims and non-Muslims who prayed according to their respective beliefs. The participants did gymnastics and had breakfast together. After that, the participants carried out trekking activities through the plantations around the camping area and the residential areas of the surrounding residents. In addition, the participants also carried out cultural outbound at each post that the participants passed. After a break and lunch, the participants continued the workshop activities on making handicrafts made of woven bamboo and making various types of traditional West Javanese game tools that participants could play.
The second night was the peak night of the activity, which began with a joint dinner followed by traditional art performances of angklung music and jaipong dance by all participants. The last activity carried out was a bonfire, all participants gathered around the bonfire and while giving impressions, messages and hopes of each participant in turn. After the bonfire, the event was officially finished with the closing ceremony delivered by Ms. Melany Kusumawati Gigir, S.Pd., M.S., followed by handing over a plaque from Harapan Bnagsa School for Bukit Dewi Manggung Subang, West Java.
Wednesday, March 8 2023, all participants had breakfast together followed by packing goods and cleaning the tents and camping environment. At 08.00 WIB, participants traveled back to school and arrived at 15.00 WIB safely. Hopefully with the 2023 Youth Camp activities, students can foster a sense of love for nature and the surrounding environment and foster positive values in each participant.
