Welcoming New Students with Fun

August 1, 2023During the school orientation (MPLS) on July 18, 2023, students of SMP-SMA Harapan Bangsa participated in an event organized by ICT Watch, an organization under Keminfo, with the theme “Fighting Hoaxes.” The event lasted for 75 minutes and took place at the basketball court for SMP students and the badminton court for SMA students. The event was led by two experienced trainers: Mrs. Widuri, S.Sos – Deputy Director of ICT Watch, Mr. and Mrs. Maftuhah, M.Pd, and Mr. Simon Simarmata, S.E., M.Kom.
The participants were divided into several groups, making it enjoyable for the students from SMP and SMA Harapan Bangsa. The event was well-designed to ensure it was not boring, covering the following activities:
- Introduction of the trainers and their objectives.
- Division into 4 groups, each consisting of 10 students.
- Introduction within each group through a name game, with a representative from each group being able to name all the members.
- Songs and movements, using songs like “1 + 1” or “Pada Hari Minggu.”
- Each group shared their experiences with hoaxes, either personal experiences or those of others, ranging from 5 to 10 experiences.
- A representative from each group explained their findings.
- Hoax horror clapping game.
- Students explained the similarities between horror and hoaxes.
- Singing the song “Potong Bebek Angsa Hoax.”
- Each group was asked to write down the characteristics of hoaxes they know on paper.
At the end of the event, examples of highly harmful hoaxes were presented, such as misinformation leading to people refusing vaccination, causing division within the country, or even hoaxes that resulted in loss of life. The participants were given a link s.id/cekhoaks to learn more about hoaxes. The event was successful and enjoyable, and the trainers received appreciation in the form of souvenirs from the Headmasters of SMP and SMA Harapan Bangsa, Mr. Diantoro, S.Pd, and Mr. Ignasius Sudjadi, S.Pd, along with gratitude to the team from Keminfo, particularly ICT Watch, for their support to SMP and SMA Harapan Bangsa, which was manifested in the gift of 11 anti-hoax T-shirts to LO Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Modernland Tangerang.
