On Friday, 28 July 2023, Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Cambridge Primary held a Sex Education Seminar. This activity was held in two different rooms, namely the Cambrige Room on the 2nd floor for female students, then in the hall on the 4th floor for the male students.
This activity is a form of cooperation between Sekolah Harapan Bangsa and external stakeholders, namely Mayapada Hospital, to facilitate students in preparing for their teenage years, especially in terms of puberty.
This activity, which was held for approximately one and a half hours, explained materials related to the introduction of the reproductive organs of both women and men, the functions of the reproductive organs, what changes are experienced by children towards adolescence, and how students can take care and maintain the body independently.
With the presentation from experts, namely doctors (doctor Samantha and doctor Andri) who are experienced in the health sector, it is hoped that this will have a worthwhile impact on students. Students are expected to be more confident in preparing for puberty in terms of mental, physical and knowledge to deal with all the changes.
In addition, the school also hopes that parents are able to assist students in going through this process. Providing support, reminding them to keep their bodies clean, and preparing food intake can help them maintain a healthy body. Via the Seminar on Sex Education, the hope is that it will not only stop at school, but also be a form of collaboration between teachers, schools and parents.
