August 29, 2023On July 31, 2023, Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Preschool Modernland held a “Pesantren Kilat’ for all our Muslim preschoolers in honor of 1 Muharram, also known as the Hijri New Year. It marks the start of the Islamic lunar calendar and is a significant event for Muslims all over the world.
The children, together with ms. Mamduhah, our Moslem religion teacher, was taught how to do Wudhu. Wudhu is the ritual act of washing specific body parts prior to prayer. Children learned the proper method and significance of performing Wudhu to purify themselves before prayer. They were also taught the fundamentals of Salah. This involves understanding the postures and recitations performed during the five daily prayers in Islam. Before the Pesantren Kilat ended, students made Islamic-themed art and crafts to take home.
The combination of religious education and art and craft activities helps students learn about their faith in a fun and interactive way. From a young age, this approach promotes a positive association with religious practices and traditions.
