It's Chinese New Year! Save those excitements for our school's fascinating performances. Let's first discuss Chinese New Year cultures. Chinese New Year is not about the Angpao, buying new clothes, fireworks, and more. After all, who isn't excited about the Angpao? However, that's not necessary. What's essential is celebrating this incredible event with family and friends. Chinese New Year is about removing the bad and the old and welcoming the new and the good. It's a time to worship the ancestors, kick out those evil spirits, and pray for a good harvest. There are many traditions and family rituals associated with Chinese New Year. These customs, loyally passed down from generation to generation, are an integral part of celebrations. The fireworks and firecrackers that explode on New Year's Eve symbolize driving away evil, and the red envelopes known as ‘Hongbao' containing money were initially given to children to protect them from sickness and ill health. It is traditional for families to clean their houses and the surrounding areas before the start of the new year. In Chinese, ‘dust' is a homophone for ‘old.' Thus, cleaning the house is symbolic of driving away the previous year's bad luck to allow for a new start. Red is essential in New Year celebrations, symbolizing a bright and happy future. It is a significant color related to Chinese stories.
I don't know any other Chinese New Year celebration that's more beautiful and creative than ours. As you walk into the halls, you'll immediately understand this will be a thrill ride. After the preparations in the morning, we started with the opening prayer and a message from our dear principal. It continued with an amazing performance from SHB 3 students and a lion dance. Oh? What's this? Our first performance from CS1 class, “The History of The Great Wall of China ”, magnificent actors and speeches! It is such a creative way to honor The Great Wall of China. In our next performance, OH MY, such beauty took over our stage. Welcome, CS2 class “Fan Dance.” I've already fallen head over heels for such glamour. HUH? This performance from the CS3 class has not just led our jaws to hit the ground. Whoever made that idea is a genius. I smell elegance. Has another beauty taken over our stage? Welcome, JC1 class! Do I see Grandpa's? This, no. That's not possible. “How are you making us want to throw billions of roses to the stage?” I would kill time by watching this majestic performance. Let's give space for these gentlemen, welcoming the JC2 class into this red carpet stage. They truly took the mic and dropped them. How did they do that so smoothly, though? Who's next? Who's that? I truly have horrible eyes. Welcome to “Medley Dance,” yet another fabulous dance—hail to these dancers, powerful energy. We've been waiting for the CS4 class to perform, right? Cs4 “12 Chinese Zodiac”, how many Chinese zodiacs are there? I saw twelve amazing dancers there. This time, I would throw lots of Angpao. Is that the end? Aw, I would want more- oh, there's one left? Whose performance is this? Ah! Let's not forget the last performance from our barongsai! It was a surprising performance, and I couldn't hear myself.
Finally, in the end, we all enjoyed these beautiful performances. Which one is your favorite? Honestly, I loved every one of them.
