August 17 is always a very important day for all Indonesian people. On August 19, 2024, Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Preschool celebrated this great day. We started the celebration with a flag ceremony. We selected Kindergarten B students as officers; they were Jasmine, Raka, Ravindra, Kairos, Crystallie, Hiro, Ceisya, and Grizelle. When the Indonesian flag was raised, all students enthusiastically sang “Indonesia Raya,” “Berkibarlah Benderaku,” and “Hari Merdeka.”
Everyone was looking forward to the competition following the flag ceremony. The Kiddy Club students participated in “Moving the Ball” and “Picking up the Flags.” The Playgroup students engaged in activities such as “moving rings” and “moving the flag.” Kindergarten A students played “Put the marker into the bottle” and “Sorting the balls,” whereas Kindergarten B students played “marble relay” and “sack race.” We also held a sack race competition for representative parents. It was a lot of fun, and we are grateful for everyone's ongoing support for our programmes. This event was a huge success with students, parents, and teachers alike. The students were overjoyed because they received a traditional toy known as “Otok-otok Ayam.” All of the students were eager to play with it. After the students had gone home, the teachers held a friendly competition with traditional games such as “Bakiak,” “Terong,” “Tiup Pingpong,” and “Bola Kerucut.” All of the preschool teachers had a great time participating in these games. Happy Indonesian Independence Day! Merdeka!!!
