On Thursday, October 10, 2024, we held the Kindergarten A Guest for Learning event. Our preschoolers transformed into scientists, carrying out experiments and collaborating with the Indonesia Science Centre.
The kids had fun doing a science experiment with liquid nitrogen. We carried out the balloon and nitrogen experiment and saw how a balloon filled with air shrinks when immersed in liquid nitrogen. But do not worry—the balloon will expand once it warms up! Next, we experimented with a kettle filled with liquid. The children placed the kettle filled with liquid nitrogen on top of a metal kettle. When the students touched it, they said it felt cool. This is because the kettle is effective at moving heat around, so it does not feel particularly hot right away. In another exciting experiment, we used liquid nitrogen to rapidly freeze the soft dough, causing it to harden and break like glass! We made ice cream using nitrogen by pouring it over a sweet milk mixture. The mixture transformed into delicious ice cream in just a few seconds. The kids absolutely loved it! It's amazing to see how this super cold liquid can change things so quickly, isn't it?
The last experiment includes creating a paper rocket. The children began by rolling a sheet of paper, taping it to form the rocket body, and then pinching one end to create the wings. After adorning the wings, our rocket is ready to launch. 🚀🚀
Everyone was pleased throughout the scientific experiment activity, and we had a fantastic time discovering and doing the experiments.
