On Sunday, October 5, 2025, Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Elementary Division held a Moon Cake Festival celebration. This annual event aims to introduce and preserve Chinese culture, especially among students from an early age.
The event began with the presentation of certificates to the winners of the Mandarin calligraphy competition, as an appreciation of the students’ creativity and dedication in learning the art of Chinese writing. The atmosphere became even more festive when students watched a video about the origin of the Moon Cake Festival. Through this presentation, they learned about the values of togetherness and gratitude in Chinese culture.
In addition, the students participated in various engaging activities such as moon cake tasting and craft-making with festival themes. These activities not only enhanced students’ fine motor skills but also encouraged teamwork and creativity.
As the event came to a close, the students were introduced to the Chinese Tea Ceremony, where they learned about the philosophical meaning behind this tradition while observing the graceful and meaningful tea-serving process.
Through this celebration, students were expected to gain a deeper understanding of cultural values, appreciate diversity, and learn to uphold meaningful traditions passed down through generations. This year’s Moon Cake Festival became a memorable and educational experience for all students at Sekolah Harapan Bangsa.
