The table manners activity, which took place on August 25-27, 2025, as part of a learning program on healthy eating habits and mealtime etiquette, was intended to introduce children to good eating practices while also teaching the importance of praying before meals and understanding balanced nutrition.
The activity began with a group prayer before eating. Children were invited to sit quietly, close their eyes, and say a mealtime prayer with gratitude. This step aimed to instill a sense of thankfulness and encourage positive spiritual habits from an early age.
After that, the teacher explained the importance of balanced nutrition using the Ministry of Health's “My Plate” guidelines. The children were then introduced to various types of healthy foods, such as vegetables, fruits, protein sources, and carbohydrates. Using images from the “My Plate” guide and real-food examples, they learned that the body needs a variety of foods to grow well and stay healthy.
The children practiced proper table manners. They learned how to use a spoon and fork correctly, to sit upright while eating, and to avoid speaking with their mouths full. They were also taught not to waste food and to finish what they had taken on their plates.
The activity was carried out in a cheerful and engaging atmosphere. The children were enthusiastic throughout each part of the activity, and many of them began showing improved eating habits afterwards.
Through activities like this, the school hopes to shape children’s character to be not only physically healthy but also respectful and responsible toward the food they eat.
