Attending the Embassy Event

On Thursday, November 28, 2024, students from Harapan Bangsa Cambridge Primary had the opportunity to participate in a welcome reception marking the arrival of Mr. Wang Lutong as the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Indonesia.

On November 25, the school received an exclusive invitation from the Chinese Embassy to take part in the reception. The school greatly appreciated this honor. Considering the limited time and the numerous preparations required, the Principal, Ms. Emy, organized a practice session on Tuesday. A total of 31 students from grades 4 to 6 participated in the event. The teachers worked diligently during the practice sessions, carefully refining the pronunciation and rhythm of the song, while the students enthusiastically rehearsed.

On Thursday morning at 10 a.m., the students gathered in the primary school lobby. Excited and full of energy, they practiced the national anthem several more times before enjoying lunch together. Afterward, the 31 students, accompanied by Ms. Emy, Mandarin language teachers Ms. Yu Yinghua, Ms. Noviana, and Ms. Yovita, music teacher Mr. Cherio, and Mr. Marcel from the IT department, boarded a bus to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Jakarta.

Upon arrival at the hotel, the teachers and students immediately resumed practicing without taking a break, followed by makeup sessions and group photos with leaders and guests.

At 7 p.m., the official event began. In a ballroom illuminated by sparkling lights, the 31 students, dressed in colorful traditional Chinese and Indonesian attire, stood neatly on stage, each holding the flags of both nations. As the inspiring melody of the national anthem played, the students’ melodious voices echoed throughout the ballroom. The atmosphere was both lively and solemn. As the final notes ended, thunderous applause erupted from the audience, and each student smiled with pride.

After their performance, the students enjoyed a buffet meal in the ballroom. At 10 p.m., they returned to the school. The Chinese Embassy expressed its heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the students’ performance. This event not only showcased their beautiful voices but also helped the students build confidence, courage, and a sense of identity while witnessing the friendship between the people of China and Indonesia.
