Introduction
Sports Day is an annual event designed to:
• Foster a love for sports and a healthy competitive spirit.
• Strengthen the bond between students and teachers.
• Instill values such as sportsmanship, teamwork, and courage.
Event Preparation
• The school committee planned a one-day agenda in the school yard and hall.
• Students were divided into teams by class and age group (Grades 1–3 and Grades 4–6).
• Sports equipment such as basketballs, small benches, tarpaulins, and soccer balls were prepared.
• Teachers served as supervisors and student companions throughout the day.
Activities
The day included various competitions:
• Grades 1–3 started with a basketball relay, followed by “Move the Rivers” using small benches, and the “Wheel Race” using tarpaulins. Each class team competed to be the fastest.
• Grades 4–6 began with a group exercise, followed by team basketball and soccer matches.
Atmosphere & Participation
• The students were highly enthusiastic—laughter, cheers, and applause accompanied each game.
• The excitement grew as teachers and non-competing students cheered their teams on.
• The committee provided water, snacks, and first aid for any minor injuries.
Impact & Reflection
• Improved students’ physical fitness and motor skills.
• Built a sense of solidarity and trust among classmates and across classes.
• Reinforced the idea that winning is not everything—effort and friendship are more important.
