Harapan Bangsa School hosted a special event on September 12, 2025. This event was intended to be both entertaining and educational, introducing traditional vehicles to children. On this occasion, the school invited Abang Delman, a professional, to provide a live demonstration and explanation.
The activity started with an opening session and photo documentation of the Kiddy Club and Playgroup classes. It was followed by an explanation of the various parts of a delman (horse-drawn carriage), such as the wheels, driver (kusir), saddle, and horse care. Abang Delman provided a direct explanation.
After that, the students took turns riding the delman around the school grounds. They were accompanied by their teachers throughout the event. The children appeared very enthusiastic and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. While waiting their turn to ride the horse-drawn carriage, the students cheerfully sang with their teacher until it was their turn. At the end of the event, the kids were overjoyed to get a horse-shaped hand puppet to take home.
This activity aimed not only to broaden the children’s cultural knowledge and stimulate their language skills but also to support their sensory development. The children could feel the movement while riding the delman, hear the sounds of the horse, and engage other senses as well.
In addition, the activity also supported the children’s social development. They learned to take turns, interact with peers and adults, and follow simple safety rules, such as sitting calmly while riding the delman.
