I decided to pursue my secondary education in SHB Cambridge largely because until then, I had been a student in SHB for essentially my whole life. The air of familiarity that the school gave convinced me to select it out of the many options I was presented with. The curriculum too played a huge role, as the Cambridge curriculum is one that is acknowledged internationally regardless of where you come from. This would certainly open a bigger path for me to chase my dreams in the upcoming future.
As such, I was faced with a constant that existed among Cambridge students nearing the end of their secondary education: the A-Levels. They were intimidating surely, but I approached them the same way I approached any other test, the method I am most comfortable with, I practiced tons of past papers. Reading theory is undoubtedly the go-to method when it comes to reviewing, but past papers are a fireproof way to truly put the knowledge you’ve learnt to the… well, test. Then, if I were ever to be in doubt of a question, Google and You tube always proved to be two of my best friends. You’d be surprised by how much information you could find there if you truly look for it.
Regardless, I survived through all the hardships and made it to the end of my school year. Thankfully enough, my hard work did pay off as I managed to get four A* in my A-Levels. As I continue my education to the eastern lands of Hong Kong in the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), I hope that the experience I’ve gained during my A-Levels will prove helpful in preparing myself for even bigger challenges, particularly in the Math department as that is the major I am aiming for. But well, I guess only time will tell.
Overall, A-Levels have been a series of truly eventful events. It was tiring, but it was also rewarding. I truly do think that if you decide to go for your A-Levels, you should shoot for the stars with all your might. After all, nothing beats that feeling of opening that envelope and seeing a star right next to your name.
