Halalbihalal is a cherished tradition for Indonesian Muslims, where families, neighbors, and colleagues visit one another to express respect and strengthen bonds of kinship. This meaningful practice takes place after Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. More than just a social gathering, Halalbihalal symbolizes gratitude and brotherhood. It also promotes reconciliation and mutual forgiveness, reinforcing harmony within society.
At Sekolah Harapan Bangsa, Halalbihalal is an integral part of religious and cultural education. Through this event, students are encouraged to embrace the values of tolerance, humility, and solidarity—principles that align with Islamic teachings and Indonesia's cultural heritage. The goal is to shape students’ character to appreciate diversity, cultivate empathy, and foster strong relationships with others.
This year’s Halalbihalal carries the theme “Weaving Togetherness in Diversity, Strengthening Bonds with a Sincere Heart.” The event will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at SHB 4 Modernhill Hall, from 7:30 to 9:00 AM. It will be attended by 199 students, 52 teachers and staff, an ustadz (Islamic teacher), and representatives from the Mizan Amanah Bintaro Orphanage.
The event will begin with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by an address from the Principal of SMA Harapan Bangsa, Dr. Agustinus Joko Purwanto, who will emphasize the importance of mutual forgiveness during this joyous occasion. Activities will continue with a religious lecture (tausiyah) delivered by the ustadz, followed by student and Islamic studies teacher performances that will enliven the celebration.
Next, there will be a symbolic handover of donations to the Mizan Amanah Bintaro Orphanage. Participants will then move to the school field for a handshake session (bersalaman) and lunch distribution for students, teachers, and staff. After lunch, Muslim students, accompanied by teachers, will visit the Mizan Amanah Bintaro Orphanage and Istiqlal Mosque in Central Jakarta. There, they will perform the Dhuhr prayer and listen attentively to a guide explaining the history of the mosque’s construction before returning to school.
Through Halalbihalal, students not only learn about tradition but also internalize noble values such as:
We hope this meaningful moment inspires students to become virtuous individuals who contribute positively to society.
Happy celebrating togetherness with sincerity!
