There is a company in the United States (US) with a valuation 2.5 times greater than Indonesia’s economic value (Gross Domestic Product). For comparison, Indonesia’s economic value currently stands at USD 1.37 trillion, while this company is worth USD 3.5 trillion. This company, NVIDIA Corporation, has been named the most valuable company on Earth today. NVIDIA develops data centers to support the massive growth in artificial intelligence usage by various technology companies in the US, leading to an explosive increase in its profits.
Many of us have started incorporating artificial intelligence into our daily activities. Students use virtual assistants like ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, to assist with their studies. Similarly, teachers utilize ChatGPT to deepen their mastery of teaching materials. The question then arises: will artificial intelligence, essentially a machine, replace human roles in the future? Will future companies prefer to use AI-powered machines over hiring human employees?
Howard Gardner, the proponent of the multiple intelligences theory, posited that humans are endowed by God with eight types of intelligence: musical, naturalist, linguistic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, visual-spatial, logical-mathematical, and kinesthetic. Individuals with musical intelligence can easily memorize song lyrics or even create songs and arrangements, traits often seen in musicians. Those with naturalist intelligence enjoy outdoor activities and are deeply concerned about environmental conservation, particularly regarding climate change. People with linguistic intelligence excel at learning languages and may even master several foreign languages, making them effective communicators. Interpersonal intelligence is prominent in skilled marketers and organizational leaders, who can easily connect with new acquaintances and treat others with genuine humanity. On the other hand, individuals with intrapersonal intelligence have excellent self-awareness, recognizing their strengths and weaknesses, and finding peace within themselves.
Architects, interior designers, and pilots are gifted with visual-spatial intelligence, enabling them to visualize and navigate space effectively. For instance, while many rely on Google Maps for navigation but still get lost, these individuals excel in spatial reasoning.
The commonly recognized logical-mathematical intelligence is evident in people who enjoy working with numbers, such as accountants, credit analysts, and bankers. These individuals can discern patterns in numerical data to draw conclusions. Athletes, actors, and performers exhibit kinesthetic intelligence, excelling in physical coordination and expression.
Sekolah Harapan Bangsa (SHB) designs its curriculum to develop students’ multiple intelligences. Beyond implementing the “Merdeka Curriculum,” the school also incorporates the Cambridge Curriculum and offers Mandarin language instruction. SHB organizes various activities like live-in programs, religious celebrations, the SHB Festival, and more. Students are encouraged to participate in organizational activities such as the Student Council (OSIS) and extracurricular programs aligned with their interests. All these initiatives aim to nurture students’ multiple intelligences.
Everyone possesses one or more forms of multiple intelligences, meaning each person has their own path to success. For example, someone less adept in logical-mathematical intelligence but strong in interpersonal intelligence may thrive in sales. Students must discover and develop their unique intelligences to achieve success.
Artificial intelligence cannot entirely replace human roles in the future but will assist humans in performing tasks more efficiently. AI will coexist with humans, alleviating workloads and enhancing productivity. Companies and individuals who can optimally leverage artificial intelligence will remain relevant and successful in the future. Unlike machines, humans have emotions, moral considerations, and ethical judgment to address problems—qualities AI lacks.
