On Tuesday, April 21st, in celebration of Kartini Day, Preschool Harapan Bangsa held a special event called Culture Day. This event aimed to introduce the rich cultural diversity of Indonesia to young learners. All students wore traditional costumes based on their assigned classes. Class KC wore traditional attire from East Java, PG from Bali, KA from West Java, KB1 from Central Java, and KB2 from Jakarta. Each classroom was also decorated according to its regional theme, creating a vibrant and culturally rich atmosphere throughout the school.
The event began with a joint assembly in the hall. The children enthusiastically sang the Indonesian national anthem, “Ibu Kita Kartini,” and “Aku Anak Indonesia.” After that, each class, starting from KC to KB, performed traditional dances and songs representing their respective regions. Following the performances, all students returned to their classrooms for a cultural tour activity. During this session, the children had the opportunity to see and taste various traditional foods from different regions. They were also introduced to regional icons and traditional musical instruments from across Indonesia.
The event concluded with the announcement of winners based on several prepared categories. All the children were very happy and excited throughout the event. Through this activity, the children not only had fun but also gained a better understanding of Indonesia’s diverse cultures, especially those from the island of Java. They expressed their enthusiasm to participate in similar events in the future to further broaden their knowledge and experiences.
