Before you begin guessing what this idiom means, let’s depict the words one by one. Blessing is something good or positive such as a favor, gift, or praise given to us by someone. Disguise is to hide something; it can be concrete or abstract. So, how does something good that seems like something bad occur? Positive people try to see problems as blessings in disguise.
I am going to give you three different situations, read and observe them carefully. After that, decide which of these situations are a blessing in disguise. First, getting more homework that you don’t like. Second, losing your internet connection which causes you to phone your friend. And third, feeling very homesick which prompts you to compose a beautiful song. So which one of these do you think is a blessing in disguise? If you chose Option A, you are correct. You may discover new ideas and knowledge when you do extra work. If you chose Option B, you are also correct. You may feel happier then you were before after phoning your friend. If you chose Option C, you are then again correct. You never know how successful your song piece might be when people listen to it. So all these three situations are blessings in disguise.
So what did we learn from the examples above? Any situation can turn into a positive thing if you look at it and treat with a positive attitude. So remember, when things turn don’t go your way and life seems like it’s against you, try to look for the blessing in disguise.
