Virtual English Seminar of Junior and Senior High Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Modernhill

On October 1, 2021, prior to the distribution of mid-semester 1 report cards, Junior and Senior High of Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Modernhill held a Virtual English Seminar with the theme “Academic English – Strategies to Improve: CAE and IELTS” which was presented by Mr. Jody Randell, one of the English teachers at Senior High Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Modernhill. This theme was appointed to provide deeper knowledge about CAE (Cambridge Assessment English) and IELTS as an English curriculum and testing system that can improve students' English skills, especially in the academic field. This seminar was not only attended by students of Junior and Senior High of Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Modernhill, but also parents, teachers, and staff.
The seminar started with a prayer led by Ms. Dora and continued with the opening remarks by Ms. Melany Kusumawati Gigir as the Head of School and the Principal of Senior High School. Then the event continued with the reading of the profile of Mr. Jody Randell as the speaker and immediately continued to the main event, namely the presentation of material on CAE and IELTS. After the presentation of the material, the question-and-answer session began. Some students and parents seemed enthusiastic in participating in this QA session and wanted to know more about the material presented. Not to forget, three door prizes were given to three questioners in this question-and-answer session. Then, the seminar was closed with a prayer led by Ms. Martha.
Overall, the Virtual English Seminar run smoothly. Even though it was held virtually, all participants seemed enthusiastic in participating in this event. In addition, they also feel happy with the material delivered because it is very useful not only for students in their preparation for higher education, but also for parents and teachers as an important support in students’ success.
