Chinese New Year is one of the traditions that is still celebrated by several countries including Indonesia. This lunar celebration is done to welcome the arrival of the Spring Season. In Indonesia, Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations always fall in either in January or February and this moment is where large families gather together and unite usually paired with a sumptuous dinner.
Even though our country is still in the midst of a pandemic situation, this does not hold back people from welcoming the arrival of the Spring Season. On Tuesday Febuary 8th, 2022 Harapan Bangsa School Modernhill conducted an online ceremony to celebrate the Lunar New Year together . The theme this year, “Diversity becomes the asset for Indonesia to move forward” aims to educate students about the importance of respecting others and respecting other people’s cultural differences. In addition, of course, the school hopes that celebrating Chinese New Year together provide insight into the origins of Chinese New Year and revisit some of the traditions that are still carried out today.
All the Primary school students and teachers of Harapan Bangsa School were very enthusiastic in celebrating this New Year. Starting from praying together, listening to the welcome speech from the representatives of the Harapan Bangsa School Foundation, the welcoming message from the Principal, watching the video of the barongsai, making Chinese Lunar Ornaments and finally not forgetting to exchange greetings to one another. This celebration was really welcomed with joy. Hopefully in the future, when the pandemic situtation Indonesia gets better, we can celebrate it offline. Let's focus on goals and become determined to make life more meaningful in this Year of the Tiger. Gong Xi Fa Cai!
