VISIT: Borobudur Temple
Borobudur is the world’s largest Buddhist temple located in the island of Java, made from over two million stones. Sunrise and sunsets are extremely special here, the area is surrounded by beautiful scenery of Central Java nature that you can only find at Borobudur. This temple has remained strong even after going through ten centuries of neglect and it was rediscovered by Sir Thomas Stanford Raffles. Because it’s located in Yogyakarta, you can also eat a lot of traditional foods nearby. For you with a sweet tooth, you’ll be delighted to learn that most of the food from Yogyakarta is sweet. The traditional gudeg rice is a delicacy you cannot miss.
Avoid: Nusa Penida Island
Nusa Penida is an island located near Bali, Nusa Penida is only a thirty-minute boat ride from Bali. The beaches are absolutely gorgeous, but they’re hardly accessible, especially Kelingking beach on Nusa Penida island. Leaving the heat and humidity out of it, it’s a workout. The locals climb 10 steps and sit down for 15 minutes. For the lines and picture fees, if we want to get a nice picture at Nusa Penida Island, some places require a donation or flat out ask money to take a picture. How to get to those places is the real hassle. It takes you 45 minutes to Penida from Bali and we must use car to go to the beach and it takes you 1 to 2 hours.
