Sekolah Harapan Bangsa, Primary School, Modernland Tangerang, recently held an activity to commemorate the 77th anniversary of Indonesia's Independence.
Long before Indonesia's Independence Day came, Sekolah Harapan Bangsa, Primary School was busy decorating to welcome the important celebration of 17 August. Red and white flags were flown and ribbon decorations were everywhere. Likewise, the classrooms were decorated with a red and white theme. The atmosphere was really lively, especially when the national songs were played every morning when welcoming the students.
The peak of the 17 August commemoration was held by both small and large classes. Grade 6 students joined the Cambridge school for a flag ceremony on the school grounds. This was certainly a memorable experience because since the pandemic has spread there have been no ceremonies at school.
Students in grades 1-5 held a commemoration of the proclamation through virtual activities in their respective classes. In addition to singing the national anthem Indonesia Raya, the students were invited to sing national songs and were introduced to the history of the proclamation.
This activity became one of the fun events for the students because from an early age the teachers were taught how to be proud and responsible as Indonesian citizens.
