
The Mid-Autumn festival is on September 10th 2022 this year, it is a big celebration at China. School Moon Cake’s Assembly was held on Wednesday, September 21st, 2022. Grade 1-2 gathered with preschool students in SHB 5 building. The program was so various with some students' singing performances. It was begun with the assembly led by Mei Mei laoshi sing mooncake song, presenting the story of Mid-Autumn festival, explain the meaning and asking some question relating to the story . At Last the students were given the opportunity to paint and decorate the mooncake made by modeling clay and acrylic paint.
There are different ways of how people celebrate the mid-autumn festival also known as the mooncake festival. Chinese people celebrate it by gathering with family members for dinner, worshiping the moon, eating mooncakes together and lighting up lanterns. Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines also celebrate the mid-autumn festival by lighting up lanterns and doing or watching dragon dances. Other countries such as Japan, South Korea and Vietnam is also influenced by the Chinese culture of celebrating the Mooncake Festival. Some people also say greetings to each other like, “但愿人长久,千里共婵娟”, which means, ‘Wishing us a long life to share the graceful moonlight, though hundreds of miles apart. Another popular greeting is, “祝中秋佳节快乐,月圆人圆事事圆满.”, which means, ‘Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! May the round moon bring you a happy family and a successful future. Everyone has different ways of celebrating the mid-autumn festival. But these are just popular activities most families do.
