Class Meeting Try to Improves Students’ Social Competence

Towards the end of the school year, Harapan Bangsa School is holding a competition between classes or class meetings for two days starting Monday, December 12 2022. The event, which was held at the Modernhill Campus, provided 18 competitions which were attended by approximately 187 students at the junior and senior high school levels. The event started with the opening ceremony which took place on the basketball court. At the moment of the opening ceremony, the Principal of SMP Harapan Bangsa, Sisilia Juni Arianti, S.Pd., M.Pd. in her remarks said that class meetings were a good opportunity for students to build social competence. After the Covid-19 pandemic hit for 2 years, learning activities were carried out online. This class meeting is the first time it has been held post-pandemic. Therefore, it is important for students to be able to socialize with their friends, teachers, and become an integral part of the Harapan Bangsa School community. In this class meeting there were a total of 18 competitions, ranging from academic, arts, to sports. Among them are the battle of the brain, chess challenge, cooking competition, mobile legend league, art drawing, English debating championship, classroom decoration, SHB march singing contest, table tennis, dodgeball league, futsal, and basketball.This competition competes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners for all levels and the overall champion at the junior and senior high school levels. The overall champion at the junior high school level was won by Grade 9, which is a combination of grade 9 science and 9 social. While at the high school level it was achieved by Grade 12. Class meetings are events that are held twice a year at the end of each semester to provide opportunities for students to express their talents. In addition, this event is also important as a refreshment for students after rigorous academic work for one semester.
