Flag Ceremony at Secondary Modernhill

The flag-raising ceremony was held on Monday, 13 February 2023 with the theme of independent. Students are expected to develop personal character such as independence to improve their learning achievement. Independence is defined as an attitude full of independence, ot influenced by other people in making decisions. However, students must be prepared for all the consequences of the choices they have made.

At home, for example, they develop an independent attitude by making their bed. Even though there are household assistants at home, children need to get used to sweeping floors, washing dishes, and other household chores. Parents can also get their children used to managing their pocket money. Parents can give pocket money every week or month. Then the child is asked to arrange the money to meet his needs for a week or a month. This is to foster independence in managing their finances.

Parents also need to give freedom to their children in choosing their school or college majors. Parents need to realize that it is their children who will live the future. So it is necessary to give freedom to children to choose and accept all the consequences of their choices. This will also foster self-sufficiency and independence in children.
