Kiddy Club and Playgroup Field Trip to Faunaland, 2023

The SHB Preschool Kiddy Club and Playgroup students went on a field trip to Faunaland—Ancol in Jakarta on Friday, May 12, 2023. We traveled by bus, and it was a fantastic experience for our young students to go with their parents and friends.

The Faunaland tour guides took us to see the albino and white monkeys, black monkeys, bekantans, raccoons, and tapirs and explained about the natural habitat, food, and ages of the animals. The students got to experience feeding the white lions, goats, horses, and fish. Some of the students were scared, so parents took the opportunity to feed the animals. There were some parrots that we let stand on our arms, shoulders, or hats to take pictures. We could see and touch 60-year-old giant tortoises. In Faunaland, we could see some wild cats. Unfortunately, they were sleeping because they were nocturnal animals. 

After taking our class photos, we enjoyed the bird show. Actually, not only birds were shown, but the Faunaland guides also showed us some tame snakes that our students and parents could touch and hold. Several students had the experience of feeding birds on the show by throwing bird food in the air, and suddenly the birds would fly up to eat the food. What fantastic interactions and shows! We appreciate our students’ and parents’ cooperation throughout this field trip, and we hope to see you again on the next wonderful field trip.
