For every high school senior, the promenade or prom is the most awaited school farewell event. This year’s prom was held in Ibis Gading Serpong, on June 8, the evening of our morning Graduation Ceremony. It was a full and busy day. As a part of Class of 2018, June 8 was my day, a thank you and goodbye to high school; preferably to the teachers and friends we met and grew together with.
I remember the day as it was just yesterday. Right after the Graduation Ceremony in SHB 3 Auditorium, I directly got ready for the Prom Night. As a lot of us girls would agree, it is never too early to start getting your hair and makeup did.
Before you know it, 6 p.m. comes rolling in. People started to fill up the photo booth. The gate to the main hall is opened and we marched inside two by two.
We walked in into a silver castle that went up to the ceiling with various animal and greenery decorations everywhere, concordant to the theme, a Garden Fairytale. Once we were seated, the MC started the event. Our principal, Ms. Silvana, gave a wonderful speech and Mr. Muktamar with an opening prayer. Then it was dinner and photo taking time.
After we got our stomachs filled, we continued our event back in the main hall. A couple of people were pulled up front and played games while we, others, shared great laughs. There was also a fun awarding. JC2 won the class showing solidarity the most a.k.a. ‘The Strongest Intermolecular Force’ award. Not long after the MC shifted the mood. We gather around in a huge circle. A few give their thanks publicly, a lot shed tears. Fortunately, we ended the night with huge grins and tired bodies as our sadness didn’t last long and we danced the night away.
The student council ensured this prom to be the most grandiose night. It took months of preparation. I was a part of the committee. So it was a very well deserving, joyful the night.
Indeed a night NOT to be forgotten!
