“Pojok Pintar”: SHB’s Concern for Literacy Education

Preschools and kindergartens are a form of basic education designed for early childhood. However, not all kindergartens have complete facilities, including an adequate collection of books to support children's teaching and learning activities. Continuing their community service program from previous years, the Junior and Senior High School Student Councils focused on developing literacy education in schools that lack facilities and book collections to support teaching. This year's community service target is PAUD – TK PELANGI, located in Pondok Cabe Ilir, Pamulang, South Tangerang City, Banten 15418.

The activities are implemented in three stages:

1. On Friday, May 26, 2023, the children's play facilities were painted.
2. On Monday, May 29, 2023, the classrooms and libraries were decorated and arranged.
3. On Wednesday, May 31, 2023, books and teaching tools were donated.

On Wednesday, May 31, 2023, all administrators of the junior and senior high school student councils departed in the morning for PAUD – TK PELANGI. Their efforts included building a mini library, painting the playground and classrooms, providing tables and chairs for teachers, a computer unit, a fan, a handwashing station, and study books for students. Additionally, basic necessities were donated to the teachers.

The event began with the arrangement of books on the prepared shelves, followed by a short activity where the Head of SHB, Mrs. Melany K. Gigir, and the Head of Harapan Bangsa Junior High School, Mrs. Sisilia Juni Arianti, delivered remarks. The SHB Student Council invited PAUD PELANGI students to sing and watch fairy tales performed by several SHB students. The involvement of SHB and PAUD PELANGI students made the handover event more exciting and lively.
