Strengthen Morals Build National Peace

The Vesak celebration 2567 BE / 2023 of Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Modernhill Preschool was held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023. The event was filled with various events including an opening speech from Ms. Theodora Rudiyanto, reading of the Dhammapada, performances Preschool “Cik Cik Bung”, Dhammadesana from Samanera Antonimmalo, performances from primary students and the last performances “Cermin” from Buddhist students. Closing prayer by Samanera Antonimmalo and fangsheng. Before we start fangsheng, Samanera Antonimmalo read the prayer and followed by Preschool Buddhist student. Preschool student look very enthusiastic do the fangsheng. This activity very important because learn to student to practice about compassion (metta).

Ms Theodora Rudiyanto  gave the opening speech and wished a happy Vesak to all Buddhist teachers, staff and students. She also reminded us to practice strengthen morals build national peace.

Samanera Antonimmalo delivered the Dhammadesana based on the theme, Strengthen Morals Build National Peace, Samanera tell about the Angulimala Story and how to practice Five Morals especially at the school. And explain the benefit if we practice Five Morals in daily life.

As Symbolicely, Samanera Antonimmalo lead the fangsheng. The meaning of fangsheng is given to feel freedom for every living thing.

After the event finished, all Buddhist students practice to giving (dāna) the lunch for Samanera Antonimmalo. Dāna is the practice of cultivating generosity.

Overall the activities of Vesak 2567 BE / 2023 run well, all students, teachers and staff were very cooperative and enthusiastic following this event.
