It has been a week since The Student Council Campaign now that Impact has won. There were two teams, Team Synergy and Team Impact. I want to take you to the time of the campaign and when the two teams were competing to win the spot-on Student Council. I, who would like to remain anonymous, saw the campaign from both perspectives. I will try my best to tell you about the experience.
During the first couple of days, the two teams started strong. Team 1 and Team 2 were preparing their flyers, but unfortunately for Team 1, Team 2 had finished their flyers first. Consequently, Team 2 has the upper hand in speed, their president, Wilbert, tried to approach everybody in the school to promote his team.
During Wilbert’s efforts, the opposite team was still working on their flyers and preparing for their presentation. At this time, both teams were also introducing themselves. In Team 1, there were Dimas (President), Juanito (Vice President), Nisya (Secretary), Natalie (Public Relations Officer), and Ace (Treasurer). In Team 2, there were Wilbert (President), Dharson Ray (Vice President), Jason R (Secretary), Cheryl (Public Relations Officer), and Ashley (Treasurer).
On the third day, both teams had their official promotion on stage. The first team to present was Team 1, or Team Synergy. They presented how they could make the event more fun and said they were experienced, although these are good points. In my POV, their presentation was overly serious. Moreover, they looked unconfident because they constantly avoided eye contact with the audience. Then Team 2 or Team Impact were next, although they lacked confidence. They tried their best to maintain eye contact and tried to maintain intonation, and this worked. They explained everything that Team 1 explained but without experience. They also translated English to Chinese for the people who only speak Chinese, which was a plus point for Team 2.
On the voting day, team 1 was already losing hope. While team 2 were thrilled since they knew that they would win. So, team 2 promoted their campaign to the teachers and even showed them a magic trick. At the time of this promotion, team 1 had already lost hope, and at the time, I had already made a deal with them. The deal was that I would have a spot in the Head of Executive Committee team. This benefited me since I was apar of the past Student Council, but I was not in the team at first since I had missed the meeting for Student Council.
So, after this campaign, everything has returned to how it was. The current Student Council will prove their worth in Independence Day’s upcoming event. Let us hope that the current Student Council will make better events.
