On December 12, 2023, Sekolah Harapan Bangsa organized a seminar featuring Mrs. Debri Pristinella, S.Psi., M.Psi as the keynote speaker. The seminar focused on the theme “Challenges Faced by Adolescents and Potential Solutions.” The adolescent developmental stage marks a crucial transitional period toward adulthood, characterized by various changes in individuals. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), adolescence spans from 10 to 19 years, encompassing transformations in physical, cognitive, and emotional aspects.
Throughout this maturation process, numerous factors influence an individual's growth, with family, peers, and the surrounding environment serving as primary determinants. The pervasive influence of today's technology significantly impacts adolescent development, affecting identity formation, lifestyle choices, hedonistic behaviors, and even sexual identity. Unfortunately, contemporary teenagers face various challenges, such as engagement in deviant activities including drug use, alcohol consumption, smoking, promiscuity, and issues related to LGBT.
The rapid adoption of an instant lifestyle pattern among teenagers contributes to diminished resilience and coping mechanisms. Consequently, the school aims to empower students through this seminar, fostering awareness to prevent deviant behaviors and encouraging them to make choices that safeguard their well-being.
