In observance of Galungan Day, the students carried out the celebration with grace and reverence, guided by the divine light of Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa. The activities proceeded smoothly under the theme “Understanding Galungan Day in the Context of Religious Tolerance.”
The Galungan celebration commenced with an opening prayer led by Jero Mangku Karnadi, followed by a brief address from the principal of Harapan Bangsa Modernhill Middle School, Ms. Juni. This was followed by the recitation of sacred Vedic verses, the Puspawrsti Welcoming Dance, and a Dharma Discourse on Galungan delivered by Panditha Karnadi. The discourse emphasized the importance of performing good deeds to overcome adversity, a message that resonated deeply with the students, reminding them of the significance of self-control and kindness in life.
The celebration was further enriched by captivating performances from both middle and high school students, including the Pusparesti dance, Pendet, and musical performances by Hindu students. Additionally, the teachers’ band performed a piece titled “Tolerance,” adding to the festive atmosphere. The event reached a climax with a mesmerizing Kecak dance performed by the school’s teachers.
As part of the celebration, a charity drive was organized to collect donations from students’ parents, raising a total of Rp. 14,735,000. The collected funds were donated to the Anatha I Orphans located at Jl. Letjend Suprapto Kav.01 Sumur Batu, Kec. Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
Following the Galungan Celebration, the students embarked on a Faith Journey to Pura Amrta Jati Cinere, engaging in group prayer activities led by Pinandhita. They also explored the temple’s surroundings, fostering a deeper understanding of and reverence for Ida Sang Hyang Widhi. This experience aimed to instill in students a sense of love and respect for God and for one another, nurturing their character and encouraging them to become compassionate individuals. It is hoped that this event will remain a cherished memory for all involved.
