Global warming is a term that describes the gradual increase in the average temperature of the earth's land, oceans, and atmosphere. The earth's surface temperature has increased by around 0.6 degrees Celsius since 100 years ago. Global warming is mainly caused by the increase of the greenhouse effect, plastic waste pollution that cannot be recycled, excessive use of electricity, air pollution due to smoke from industrial factories, felling of trees, forest damage and fire, and excessive use of chlorofluorocarbon CFCs.
The impact of global warming is the increase of the earth's temperature, the melting of glaciers, which causes the rise of sea levels and coastal areas to be submerged, the loss of coral reefs due to increasing temperatures and acidification of seawater, erratic rainfall and weather, and the thinning of the ozone layer (oxygen atoms in the atmosphere).
One way that the Primary School of Harapan Bangsa can cope with global warming is by continuing to increase awareness among all school members to always implement an environmentally friendly lifestyle, including by bringing drinking bottles and lunch boxes from home so that it will reduce the use of plastic, implementing the 3 R's in everyday life, making efficient use of electrical energy, and also educating students pertaining to the importance of environmental sustainability to prevent global warming.
