On Monday and Tuesday, October 21-22, 2024, Harapan Bangsa Primary School Modernihill held a “Language Days” event, followed by an “English Day” event on the following day. During these activities, students practiced and sharpened their language skills in Indonesian, Mandarin, and English.
On Monday, students watched a traditional wayang performance, a symbol of cultural heritage presented in Indonesian language. This was followed by various interactive classroom activities. On Tuesday, students demonstrated Taiji movements as a representation of Chinese culture, held together in the hall of Harapan Bangsa School, and continued with creative classroom activities where they created paintings of cities in China.
On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, students participated in “English Day” with the theme “Let’s Visit England.” They dressed as travelers exploring four cities in England, with fourth to sixth-grade students serving as tour guides in each classroom.
In the city of Oxford, students took part in an engaging Jeopardy Quiz. In Bristol, they learned about English art and engaged in coloring activities. Additionally, they explored the legendary band The Beatles through videos and their popular songs. In London, students participated in a virtual video conference with a high-achieving student who shared experiences from a student exchange program. The English Day activities concluded with a choir performance by Harapan Bangsa students and an announcement of the “Best Costume” award. This event not only helped students improve their English language skills but also introduced English culture to all Harapan Bangsa Primary students.
