On February 12, 2026, SMP Harapan Bangsa Modernhill conducted an outlearning activity involving 115 students, accompanied by 12 teachers, the principal, and the sisters. This program aims to provide students with direct learning experiences outside the classroom.
Effective learning does not only take place in the classroom but can also be strengthened through real-life experiences. Through outlearning activities, students are given opportunities to observe, explore, and understand learning materials in a more contextual and meaningful way.
All students first visited Candranaya, a cultural and historical center that offers learning experiences related to diversity, cultural values, and the history of the Chinese community in Indonesia. Through this activity, students were encouraged to develop tolerance, respect for differences, and appreciation for the richness of Indonesia’s culture.
In addition, each grade level participated in different educational visits. Grade 7 students visited the Hakka Museum and the Renewable Energy Museum to learn about cultural heritage and environmentally friendly energy. Grade 8 students explored several historical museums in the Kota Tua area, including Museum Mandiri and Museum Bank Indonesia, to understand the development of Indonesia’s economy and finance. Meanwhile, Grade 9 students visited the National Museum of Indonesia and the National Monument (Monas) to deepen their knowledge of Indonesian history and the nation’s journey toward independence.
Through this outlearning activity, students gained valuable knowledge and meaningful experiences that support their academic learning as well as their character development.
