What better way to give the best impression of school to the students none other than holding a Student Orientation Week! SHB Modernhill has yet again made a fantastic event to prepare and equip all students with everything they should keep within themselves to the mind, heart, and soul in facing the first new academic years ahead of them. Held from the 12th until 14th July 2021, although it merely has the span of 3 days, it surely was filled with a lot of great activities that convinced students to have found so much worth in being able to engage themselves into. Despise the obtrusively ongoing pandemic, this fact could never break the SHB family’s spirit any way possible. Within each day of the Student Orientation Week, it was commenced officially with a morning prayer, reciting SHB pledge (in 3 languages; Indonesian, English, and Mandarin), National song, and a 10-minute reading book session.
Starting off with the first day on Monday, 12th July. Now, of course Monday isn’t much of an ideal day for anyone, really. But, for this day to be the initiation of Student Orientation 2021, it’s a perfect exception. Led and moderated by the Junior and Senior High Student Council members, they created games they believe would be stay wide-eyed and sit right up with on-cam at all costs such as a guessing game called “Who-Am-I?” and a round of “Random General knowledge Quiz!” . Not only do this first day include all the fun games, but a session to get to know each other and familiarize the students to their new classmates, homeroom teacher, and all subject teachers in order to build up a good foundation of friendship and trust.
Tuesday the 13th July 2021, this is where the peak of everything exquisite and exciting sets. Meaning, another day of ice-breaking games were held. Scavenger Hunt whereby students are instructed to check all of the given and said listed items by finding the things that are present in their house, a second thrilling round of ‘Random General Knowledge’, and a game that defines the current obsession of Gen-Z youth in a nutshell, called “Guessing the Emoji” game where they are to make a correct guess about what the combination of 2 or more shown emojis means (be it the name of a movie, video game, and etc.). Students were also given an opportunity to learn the remarkable meaning of solidarity and teamwork with their classmates by creating a yel-yel which is a shout out made by each class with means of motivation for them to lift their enthusiasm by and dedication by.
The last day, Wednesday 14th July 2021 was packed with many yel-yel sessionsperformed by each and every class from the 7th to 12th grade, and a special guitar and poetry performance by one of the representatives of SHB Modernhill ‘s Senior High Student Council, Adrian Kashif and Angelina Arief. Countless of laughter, smiles, great conversations, and experiences were shared with one another during SHB Modernhill’s Student Orientation Week. SHB welcomes students with warmth and open arms to make them feel that they have come into the right place where everyone around them is family. New academic year with new friends, new teachers, new spirit, and chapter! Students can take these 3 days as a good impression as a little sneak peak of being a part of the SHB family, where they will always be encouraged to do their absolute best in this academic year!
